| Based in the musically vibrant seaside resort of Scarborough, Amaya is a young singer/songwriter who performs regularly on the Scarborough circuit. She has written over forty songs, many of which are in her three albums, two which were produced at her home studio (Sailing Away and Ferris Wheel), and one with the band at Sonic Moles Recording Studios (All For One). |
| Amaya is a classically trained musician with a BA (Hons) in Music from Durham University, who composes and orchestrates instrumental compositions. Published works include a commission for the Festival of Light which formed part of the 2009 Coastival Festival. An adaptation of her Spanish flavoured Traslasierra was performed as a part of a suite by the East Riding Youth Orchestra. |
| Initially, Amaya performed as a solo artist and, at specific venues, still does. However, she is mainly seen performing with her band. This has influenced her writing as now she often composes with the band in mind. Amaya & The Merry Men are a four-piece, consisting of Alistair Huntly on guitar, Rich Hodgson on bass and Tom Townsend on drums. |
